Saturday 20 July Open Heaven: WHEN THE SPIRIT DEPARTS

Saturday 20 July
WHEN THE SPIRIT DEPARTS
Memory Verse: Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Psalm 51:11
Read: Psalm 51:1-12
Psa 51:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to BathshebaHave mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Psa 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Psa 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Psa 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Psa 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden partthou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Psa 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Psa 51:8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

Psa 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thyfree spirit.

Message
Every believer in Christ needs the Holy Spirit. As long as He is with you, all is well, but the moment He leaves you, trouble sets in and weakness follows. When He was with Samson, everyone saw him as a real-life Superman or Spiderman; but when He left him, Samson became an ordinary man and his enemies dealt with him (Judges 16:18-20).

Friday 19 July Open Heaven: EXCEEDING GREATNESS BY SACRIFICE

Friday 19 July
EXCEEDING GREATNESS BY SACRIFICE
Memory Verse: Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. Psalm 50:5
Read: Genesis 22:7-14
Gen 22:7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

Gen 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Gen 22:9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

Gen 22:10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

Gen 22:11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

Gen 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

Gen 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behindhim a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

Gen 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Message
Our God is a covenant keeper. This is why He hates the acts of truce breakers with a passion. If you want your future to be exceedingly great, make sure you are connected through a covenant to God. God is taking us to the level of exceeding greatness. Don't let anybody deceive you by telling you that you have reached a height nobody has achieved for God. Simply tell them that whatever they consider as your height is truly the beginning of your achievement for God. Tell them they have not seen anything yet.

Thursday 18 July Open Heaven: LAYING DEMANDS ON YOUR CALLING

Thursday 18 July
LAYING DEMANDS ON YOUR CALLING
Memory Verse: And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. 2 Kings 1:10
Read: 2 Kings 1:9-12
2Ki 1:9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
2Ki 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
2Ki 1:11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
2Ki 1:12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

Message
Every potential champion faces the risk of never becoming a champion. Becoming a champion is a process which involves a lot of effort on the part of the would-be champion; while it takes nothing – no effort on your part to die a potential champion. This is exemplified by Judas Iscariot. He was one of the very few portfolio holders in the ministry of Jesus. He was indeed a potential champion but because he never realised it, Satan deceived him, he lost his ministry and somebody else replaced him (Acts 1:15-20).

Monday 15 July Open Heaven: FULFILLING HIS PURPOSE

Monday 15 July
FULFILLING HIS PURPOSE
Memory Verse: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Ephesians 1:11
Read: Ephesians 1:9-12

Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Message
Isaiah 60:1 commands us to arise and shine. To shine is to fulfil your purpose. In Mark 10:46-52, when Bartimaeus was led to Jesus and He commanded his eyes to be opened, He was simply asking his eyes to fulfil the purpose for which they were created. No part of your body is there just for fun: every part has a purpose. Also, in Acts 3:1-8, when Peter commanded the lame man to walk, he was only asking the legs to fulfil their purpose. Whenever Jesus heals or delivers an individual, it is in connection with creating fresh avenues for the fellow to fulfil divine purpose. In Mark 8:14-16, Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law so that she could serve – fulfil her purpose. Are you sick? The healing power of God will touch and heal you so that you can fulfil God's purpose. God's purpose for the mad man of Gadara was to be an evangelist, so when He came to him and met him occupied with insanity – which is the devil's purpose, He delivered him and he fulfilled his purpose as an evangelist.

Wednesday 10 July Open Heaven: DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT WEAKNESS

Wednesday 10 July
DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT WEAKNESS
Memory Verse: Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Romans 6:12
Read: Judges 16:6-10

Jdg 16:6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
Jdg 16:7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
Jdg 16:8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
Jdg 16:9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
Jdg 16:10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

Message
While fighting with the enemy, God sometimes helps us by causing the enemy to verbalise their evil intent like it happened to Samson in Judges 16:6. If your enemy tells you his plan towards you, what are you supposed to do? Sometimes, the enemy will be so full of the evil plot that he will spill it out unawares; for the mouth releases what the heart is full of (Matthew 12:34). If you share your secret with a particular friend, and you observe that your plans are repeatedly frustrated, you don't need a soothsayer to tell you to either cut off from that enemy disguised as a friend or keep your secrets to yourself afterwards.

Tuesday 9 July Open Heaven: YOU CAN OVERTAKE

Tuesday 9 July
YOU CAN OVERTAKE
Memory Verse: ... for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. Isaiah 54:1b
Read: 1 Samuel 2:20-
1Sa 2:20 And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

1Sa 2:21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

Message
A single contact with God can make the difference in the life of an individual. For some years, some people have laboured in ministry, business, academics and career with nothing to show for it. If you are in such situation, a contact that will usher a season of positive change is coming your way. When the hand of God was laid on Elijah in 1 Kings 18:41-46, he outran King Ahab who had earlier taken off with speed on his chariot of horses. How can ordinary legs overtake horses?

Friday 5 July Open Heaven: LIKE A DREAM

Friday 5 July
LIKE A DREAM
Memory Verse: When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Psalm 126:1
Read: Psalm 126:1-4
Psa 126:1 .A Song of degrees When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Psa 126:2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
Psa 126:3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
Psa 126:4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.

Message
Sometimes, when the King of glory pays you a visit, things will happen so fast that you may think that you are dreaming. When Peter had such a visit, he thought he was dreaming. After the angel led him out of the prison and finally vanished, that was when he realised it was no dream (Acts 12:1-11).

Tuesday 2 July Open Heaven: YOU WILL MAKE IT!

Tuesday 2 July
YOU WILL MAKE IT!
Memory Verse: Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not? 2 Corinthians 11:29
Read: 2 Corinthians 11:23-30
2Co 11:23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
2Co 11:24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
2Co 11:25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
2Co 11:26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, inperils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city,in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
2Co 11:27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
2Co 11:28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
2Co 11:29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
2Co 11:30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

Message
The midwives of Exodus 1 did not fail God over the purpose for which He planted them at the general hospital. If they did not fail God in spite of their trying circumstances, you too will not fail God over His purpose for your life. If there was somebody who should not make it, it was Paul.

Sunday 30 June Open Heaven: ANY CREDIT WITH GOD?

Sunday 30 June
ANY CREDIT WITH GOD?
Memory Verse Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Psalm 20:3
Read: Acts 9:36-42
Act 9:36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

Act 9:37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

Act 9:38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

Act 9:39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

Act 9:40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

Act 9:41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

Act 9:42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

Message
“And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.”
2 Kings 4:21.
When the son of the rich Shunammite woman died in 2 Kings 4:18-26, she laid him on the bed that she had provided for the man of God. It was another way of telling God: 'Lord, I have some deposits in my heavenly account: it is time to make a withdrawal'. She did not request for the child in the first place; it came as interest on her investment. Do you have a deposit with God which you can draw from in times of crisis? It is wisdom to have such a deposit because at very crucial moments in the life of the depositor, your investment will speak for you. At such times, you may not be the one to speak for yourself.

Saturday 29 June Open Heaven: HE IS OUR SEAL

Saturday 29 June
HE IS OUR SEAL
Memory Verse In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13
Read: Ephesians 1:11-14
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Message
The Holy Spirit guides you into all truth and sets you free. The greatest amnesty you can ever receive is from Him. Besides all these, John 16:13 says the Holy Spirit will show you things to come. He is a revealer of future events. There is hardly anyone who does not want to know tomorrow. Quite a number of people have ensnared themselves while seeking information about their future. Yet, they keep a distance from the One who can tell them of tomorrow. Unlike agents of darkness who can foretell by the spirit of divination, but provide destructive solutions to problems, the Holy Spirit guides His own into future events and provides appropriate solutions to problems identified. How much of the future that is revealed to you is a function of your closeness to the Holy Spirit. How close are you to the Revealer of secrets?

Friday 28 June Open Heaven: DIVINE JAIL BREAK

Friday 28 June
DIVINE JAIL BREAK
Memory Verse And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. Acts 16:26
Read: Acts 16:24-33
Act 16:24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

Act 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Act 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

Act 16:27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
Act 16:28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

Act 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

Act 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Act 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

Act 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed theirstripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

Message
God's personal visit to His children who are in bonds, liberates their hands from whatever cuffs had them bound. Beyond the hands, the legs of the visited will also be loosed and freed to make progress; so that the enemy who had him tied down will no longer be able to catch up with him. In Acts 3:1-8, when the King of kings visited the lame man at the front of the Beautiful Gate, he did not only walk but he started to leap. Have your legs been incapacitated owing to poor health? They shall receive strength and become whole. At other times, your legs may be physically fit but they may be chained like it happened to Paul and Silas in Acts 16: 24-33. After they received the beating of their lives for delivering a lady from the oppressive spirit of divination, they were taken to prison and tucked into the inner ward to prevent escape. Yet, they did not stop there; they tied them with chains and tucked and locked their feet in stocks. In other words, the enemies tried to block every possible avenue of escape. Now the jailor could safely go to sleep. As tired as they were, with their bodies bleeding from the wounds earlier inflicted on them before they were brought to the prison house, they felt they must immediately contact their Headquarters in Heaven and invite the King of Glory to personally visit

Thursday 27 June Oen Heaven: BLIND TO YOUR FAULTS?

Thursday 27 June
BLIND TO YOUR FAULTS?
Memory Verse Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. John 9:41
Read: John 9:40-41
Joh 9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

Joh 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Message
Zechariah 3:1-7 relays an incident where Joshua the high priest stood to offer some sacrifice but he was clothed with filthy garment and Satan stood at his right hand to resist him. This tells us that whenever we are not properly clothed in God's righteousness and we want to offer something – an offering or sacrifice to God, there will surely be some formidable resistance from the kingdom of darkness. The filth on Joshua's garment gave Satan legal right to withstand his offering. From this we also learn that not all sacrifices are acceptable to God. Some sacrifices are rejected, some are accepted while some others are contested. Mind how you are clothed before you go to offer anything before God!

Wednesday 26 June Open Heaven: POWER IN THE BLOOD

Wednesday 26 June
POWER IN THE BLOOD
Memory Verse And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11
Read: Revelation 12:10-11
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Message
The Word of God works in all situations when the user has satisfied every requirement. If you are making a request and you are at the same time living in sin, particularly in secret sin, your sinful state can negatively impact on your prayers. Similarly, when you engage the enemy, and you want to use the word of God as a weapon, quote it correctly or it may not work for you. Satan knows the letters of the word from Genesis to Revelation, so the enemy knows whenever you misquote scriptures and can take advantage of that. In Matthew 4:1-11, when Jesus came face to face with the devil in the wilderness, He engaged the sword of the Spirit saying, 'it is written'. How often do you engage the sword of the Spirit? How correctly do you quote scripture when engaged in warfare?

Moreover, the third weapon available to soldiers in God's army is the blood of Jesus. Revelation 12:11 says,
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Monday 25 June Open Heaven: DIVINE PARTNERSHIP

Monday 25 June
DIVINE PARTNERSHIP
Memory Verse For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:13
Read: Isaiah 41:13
Isa 41:13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Message
Beside divine compassion, dwelling with the Lord also assures you of divine goodness. This was the experience of David when he said assuredly that goodness and mercy will always accompany him for the rest of his life, because he will dwell in God's presence continually (Psalm 23:6). Beloved, if you must be fruitful, you need both mercy and goodness. Why? Mercy makes you have what you don't deserve. If you read Romans 9:15-16, you will find that God reserves the right to choose to be merciful or compassionate to whom He will. Consequentially, the one who wins the race is not necessarily the one who is more determined or has the fastest feet, but the one who has God's mercy backing him or her. Those you probably envy because they are recording a greater success in life or ministry are not necessarily wiser, stronger or holier than you, but just that they are enjoying the mercy of God that you do not enjoy. From today, you shall be a beneficiary of God's mercy.

Monday 24 June Open Heaven: A SURE EVENT

Monday 24 June
A SURE EVENT
Memory Verse In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 3:19
Read: Genesis 3:17-19
Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Message
It is important to keep eternity in view as you live on the earth. Another reason people fear death is because death seals fate. Once you die, your fate is sealed. Job 7:9-10 says once a man dies, he cannot come back to his earthly home anymore. In Luke 16:19-31, the Lord told a story of a rich man and a poor beggar who lived at a particular time in life. At some point, they both died. While the fate of the rich man was sealed in hell, that of the poor man was sealed in Heaven. If you are born-again and you die righteous, your fate is sealed in Heaven, but if you die in your sins, your fate is sealed in hell. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says,
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Friday 21 June Open Heaven: EMPOWERING YOUR HANDS

Friday 21 June
EMPOWERING YOUR HANDS

Memory Verse He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. Psalm 18:34
Read: Psalm 18:31-35
Psa 18:31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

Psa 18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

Psa 18:33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

Psa 18:34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

Psa 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

Message
God cannot pay you a personal visit and things in your life and around you will maintain status quo. His visits always come with glorious changes. May He visit you this season. When He visited the Red sea, a thoroughfare was created in the midst of it, for the Israelites to go through. When He visits you, He will create a way in your wilderness. When He visits you like He visited Peter in Acts 12: 5-11, your hands that were tied will suddenly become loose. You hands will be free to war. Psalm 18:34 says,
“He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.”

Thursday 20 June Open Heaven: A SMOOTH STONE

Thursday 20 June
A SMOOTH STONE
Memory Verse Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Isaiah 28:16
Read: 1 Peter 2:4-8
1Pe 2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

God is interested in every aspect of your life including your dressing because it could either make or mar His plan for you. How polished are you to fit into His eternal plan for your life? Many years ago, one of my sons in the Lord who is highly educated became born-again yet continued smoking cigarette. When I was told, I asked him and he affirmed that he was born-again and that what is inside of one is what really matters. However he said he is prepared to obey the Bible and then asked: 'Where is it written, Thou shall not smoke?' I replied that it is not stated in the Bible. One day, he visited me in company of his wife while I was at a retreat so we decided to do a little Bible study on 1

Wednesday 19 June Open Heaven: WHY THE WORD SOMETIMES FAIL

Wednesday 19 June
WHY THE WORD SOMETIMES FAIL
Memory Verse For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Hebrew 5:13
Read: Hebrew 5:11-14
Heb 5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

Heb 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Message
The word of God is most powerful. It lives and is unlimited just like God. It is a spy agent for the fellow who knows how to use it well. If there is one weapon that the enemy can't resist, it is the word of God, yet often times, it appears the word does not work. Is God a liar or what is wrong? There are a few instances where the word of God may not work. The first is during a trial of faith situation.

WHEN THE WIND BLOWS
Memory Verse And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. Exodus 15:8
Read: John 20:21-22
Joh 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Joh 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Message
If you want to belong to the reigning team, sign a pact with the Holy Spirit. Severally in scriptures, the Holy Spirit is compared to the wind. Understanding some characteristics of the wind gives us some insight into the personality of the Holy Spirit. The wind as breeze can blow gently, we see the Holy Spirit exhibiting this trait in Samson. The Spirit first began to move him gently once in a while in Judges 13:24-25. The Holy Spirit can also behave like a rushing mighty wind blowing suddenly, as was the case in Acts 2: 1-7. He can also move massively like a storm. At the front of the Red sea,

THINK ABOUT THE END!
Memory Verse And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement: Hebrews 9:27
Read: Ecclesiastes 5:13-15
Ecc 5:13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.

Ecc 5:14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.

Ecc 5:15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.

Message
God has provided information in the Bible which He intends will give men revelations that ultimately will make them wise. But unfortunately for many people, most of this divine information remained nothing but mere information. As long as knowledge garnered from such information does not lead to wisdom, its purpose will be defeated. Take for instance this scripture in Hebrews 9:27:
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Sunday 16 June Open Heaven: VICTORY OVER STORMS

Sunday 16 June
VICTORY OVER STORMS
Memory Verse Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19
Read: Mark 4:35-41
Mar 4:35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

Mar 4:36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

Mar 4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

Mar 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Mar 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Mar 4:40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

Mar 4:41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Friday 14 June Open Heaven: WHEN HE VISITS

Memory Verse Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; Psalm 114:7
Read: Psalm 114:1-8
Psa 114:1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;

Psa 114:2 Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.

Psa 114:3 The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.

Psa 114:4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.

Psa 114:5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, thatthou wast driven back?

Psa 114:6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?

Psa 114:7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

Psa 114:8 Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.

Message
Divine encounters come in different ways but one of the most outstanding forms is when God decides to pay you a visit by Himself. Wherever the King goes, doors open to Him. Psalm 24:7 says,
“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”

Read: 1 John 2:15-17
1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Wednesday 12 June Open Heaven: THE WORD AS A SPY AGENT

Wednesday 12 June
THE WORD AS A SPY AGENT
Memory Verse But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10
Read: 1 Corinthians 2:9-11
2Co 2:9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

2Co 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

2Co 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Message
One weapon available to us as soldiers in God's army which is honoured in Heaven, on earth and beneath the earth, and a weapon that can never fail us is the name of Jesus. Another weapon we must always use is the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Whenever God's word is correctly applied to a given situation, the Holy Spirit skilfully uses the sword to deliver victory in that situation. Hebrews 4:12 says,
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The word of God is spirit and alive. It is full of power, extremely sharp and operates in every plane of existence - physical, spiritual, intellectual, psychological, physiological, financial, biological, etc. It is not limited by time and space, so it can be sent to address a problem in the past or create a good outcome in the future.

The word of God can affect the tripartite constituents of man – spirit, soul and body. The word discerns the thoughts and plans of the human heart just like the Holy Spirit searches out the thoughts and plans in God's heart (1 Corinthians 2:9-11). If you are conversant with the word by learning it, memorising it, meditating on it, preaching it to win souls regularly and obeying it, whenever you apply it to a situation, it will surely give you results. In fact when you preach it, it will search the hearts of your hearers and give you feedback. This is why at some point, you will be speaking out their hearts and they will think somebody who knows them has gone to tell you about them. Nobody told you. It is just the word in action! Never joke with the Bible! It is more than a literature book. It is more than just the world's best selling book. It is not just men's words but was scripted by the Holy Spirit. The word written by the Spirit is made spirit whenever the Holy Spirit takes it over. Draw closer to the word of God so that you can be more victorious.
Key point
It takes you being under God's authority to operate by His authority.

Tuesday 11 June Open Heaven: KNOCK

Tuesday 11 June
KNOCK
Memory Verse Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7
Read: Matthew 7:7-8
Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Mat 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Message
In John 15:1-8, Jesus Christ says He is the vine and everyone who is born-again is a branch of that tree. If you let His word abide in you, there will be no reason to worry about fruitfulness. If you are asked to stay in a house, you first need is to locate the house. If you discover you are some distance from the house, you must carefully trace it until you find it. Psalm 34:10 says,
“The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.”
Children, success, promotion, good health, etc. are good things, if you seek the Lord, you won't lack them because Hebrews 11:6 says God rewards those who diligently seek Him.

We are assured in Matthew 7:7-8 that if we seek, we shall find. It is important to find what you are seeking. Not everyone who seeks will find what he or she is seeking for. This is why we must take Isaiah 55:6 seriously:
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:”
The seeker must seek at the right time. If the timing is wrong, you are likely not going to find Him. Proverbs 8:17 says, you must seek Him early in order to find Him. If you put God first, you will most likely find Him. Some people seek God when it is already late. It is important to seek Him first thing in the morning, before you go to work, before taking that new job, before you get married, etc. Do not be like those who procrastinate by saying they will seek God only after they have prospered or obtained their heart's desire. In addition, you must knock on the door. Matthew 7:7-8 says if you knock, the door will open to you. If you knock acceptably, you will provoke the Lord to open the door to you. In fact, Revelation 3:7 says He can permanently open a door to you and ensure nobody shuts it. How are you knocking today? One powerful knock with praise and worship can compel Him to open the door. It could also be through giving. It could be through thanksgiving. Arise and knock the pearly gate today and it will be opened to you.
Prayer point
The time you seek God affects what you can get from Him. Father, from today, help me to seek You early.

Monday 10 June Open Heaven: SEEK WISDOM

Monday 10 June
SEEK WISDOM
Memory Verse For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6
Read: Proverbs 2:1-7
Pro 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

Pro 2:2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Pro 2:3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

Pro 2:4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Pro 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Pro 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Pro 2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

Message
Wisdom is very essential to our daily living. James 1:5 says,
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Wisdom comes in instalments and is available to all who are ready to ask, study God's Word and walk closer with the Spirit of God – who is the Spirit of Wisdom. How do you get wisdom? First it is by getting information. 2 Timothy 2:15 says,
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Proverbs 2:1-7 says you should receive God's words and instructions because in the process, you will be wise. The time spent with God's Word is never wasted.

Another way of accessing wisdom is by receiving revelation – this means understanding the meaning or implication of the information received. If you are driving out of town in an area you have never been before and you see a sign post on which is written: narrow bridge ahead - this is information. The revelation here is the implication of that information: that the bridge cannot take two vehicles at a time and the realisation that someone else may be on the bridge before you. Wisdom then instructs you to act on that revelation by slowing down. Take for instance the woman caught in adultery in John 8:3-11. She was arraigned before Jesus and her offence was read out - that was information. But beyond this, Jesus had a revelation from God's Word:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:23
Thereafter, Jesus simply applied that revelation by asking anyone among her accusers who had never sinned to start stoning the woman, and one after another, they silently disappeared. That is wisdom in operation. Furthermore, God can give you wisdom through a gift of the Spirit – the word of wisdom. Every leader needs wisdom. In every sphere of life wisdom is required. How much of wisdom do you have to operate as a leader, spouse, as a parent, in your workplace or ministry? Do you spend time to access information and further move towards revelation? Do you act on the revelation received?
Action point
Ask for the wisdom that will enable you to be on top of situations and will keep you steps ahead of problems, challenges and enemies.

Saturday 1 June Open Heaven: WHO GETS GOD'S MERCY?

Saturday 1 June
WHO GETS GOD'S MERCY?
Memory Verse: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy: Matthew 5:7
Read:Exodus 20:4-6
Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Message
God is sovereign. Being the highest of all, He cannot be queried over what He does. He went into the midst of a crowd of sick people, healed one man and left (John 5:2-9). What made Him pick this particular man? Sheer mercy! The man did not pray, nor did he even know the Person of Jesus. After his healing, when people asked him why he was carrying his bed on that Sabbath day, he said the one who healed him asked him to carry his bed. What was his name? At that time he did not know. He did not do anything to qualify him for that healing but God's mercy singled him out. In Mark 1:40-42, when a leper met the Lord, he told the Lord he was sure He could heal him, but what he did not know was whether the Lord was willing to, the Lord was moved with compassion. Are you presently in a situation where you do not qualify for God's blessings? God's mercy will speak in your favour today!
Who are the recipients of God's mercy? Matthew 5:7 says if you sow mercy, you will reap mercy in return. If you want to receive mercy, avoid everything to do with wickedness. Also, Romans 9:15-16 says God uses His prerogative to decide who would benefit from His mercy. May He choose you as His next candidate for mercy! In addition, Psalm 103:11 says the fear of God makes you to access God's abundant mercy. Do you fear God? Exodus 20:6 says loving God and keeping His commandments can earn you God's mercy. To fear God means to flee from anything evil and to do God's will. Contrary to what many think or say, God's commandment is not only simple but also easy to obey. Which of the commandments do you find difficult to obey? You honour somebody when you give him or her something that the fellow does not need. Honorary degrees are given to people who did not study for that degree. They did not deserve it but it is given to honour them. Do you truly love God? Do you honour Him with your substance? What are you doing to receive God's mercy
Key point
Back up your request for mercy with works of mercy or else it may elude you.

Friday 31 May Open Heaven: HE FEELS LIKE YOU DO

Friday 31 May
HE FEELS LIKE YOU DO
Memory Verse For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15
Read: Acts 9:1-6
Act 9:1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

Act 9:2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

Act 9:3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

Act 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

Act 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

Act 9:6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Message
If you are the apple of God's eyes, you will be required to channel God's love to those who are hurting. According to 1 John 4:7-8, this includes fellow believers; else you cannot claim to even know God. That is part of your responsibility, it is an obligation. Being the apple of God's eyes does not start and end with obligations, there are benefits, rights and privileges that accrue from this relationship with God. If somebody is playing with you, the fellow can hit almost any part of your body, but not your eyes. Anyone who touches your eyes is out to provoke you. If you are the apple of God's eyes, whoever touches you, touches God, and is playing with the Consuming Fire.

“In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.”
Isaiah 63:9
This verse tells us that the Lord suffers whenever the apple of His eyes is suffering. He does not just show sympathy but He empathises! A man and his eyes are one. If you hurt the eye of an individual, he will feel it throughout his whole body. If you feel that something is getting towards your eyes, what will you do? Even without thinking, you will not wait for it to get there before you dodge or block it. In Acts 9:1-6, when Saul was heading for Damascus to touch the apples of God's eyes, the Lord met him on the way and arrested him. God preempted Saul on that journey and asked why he was persecuting Him. Anyone touching you is touching the Lord. Whatever you are going through, He is going through it with you. Hebrews 4:15 says He feels your infirmities and trials; hence He wants you to communicate with Him over any disturbing situation so that He can take it away. God stands by the apple of His eyes to any extent. Beloved, God is with you. He feels exactly what you feel. He has a stake in what concerns you. Being the apple of His eyes, He knows most of what you are suffering is because of His name you bear. He will uphold you. He will stop your enemies before they hatch their evil plans against you. Remember, He loves you.
Prayer point
Father, grant me the full benefits of being the apple of Your eyes.

Thursday 30 May Open Heaven: WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?

Thursday 30 May
WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?
Memory Verse But ye put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Romans 13:14
Read: Genesis 3:20-21
Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Message
If you are God's representative or champion, He is very much interested in your dressing. You must be clean and you must not ridicule the Name of Jesus whom you represent. No dress that exposes your nakedness is allowed. If you are fuelling lust in the hearts of the opposite sex by virtue of your dressing, then you are representing something else other than the Lord. Before you put on any dress, you must ask yourself: Will this dress please the Lord? Does it cover my nakedness? Would Jesus put on this same dress while He was on earth? Will people who see me wearing this dress glorify God or Satan? Do I have inner peace wearing what I am wearing?

For want of means to afford something better, some people are dressed in rags. If you cannot afford good clothes, the Lord will open doors for you to have them in Jesus name.
“Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.”
Genesis 3:21
God's concern about the clothes of His champions did not just start; it started from the beginning. When God created Adam and Eve, He dressed them up in Heaven's designer wears – His own glory. God covers Himself with glory and because He created His champions in His own image, He covered them with the same covering. That is, Adam and Eve wore the same dress that God wore. No wonder they had tremendous power and control. You are addressed by the dress you put on. If you dress in royal robes with a crown, even without introducing yourself, people who meet you will treat you as a king. They will show you uncommon regards and treat you with honour. Because Adam wore God's clothes, the animals regarded him as they regarded God their Creator. But the day they sinned and lost God's clothes, God gave them animal hide for clothes; no wonder the animals rebelled against them. In Christ Jesus, you can be back in control by not only wearing clothes that reflect God's glory but also by wearing God the Son in the person of Jesus Christ. Are you wearing what will give you authority or undermine your authority?
Key point
You cannot wear Jesus Christ and not be treated like Him. This is the only true way to stay in dominion.
